The walk starts from Westminster tube station situated near Thames riverside beside the Big Ben where we find one of the best attraction, the Palace of Westminster. We rest a moment at Westminster Abbey, the important anglican church where since 1066 all the Kings are crowned and we keep walking for the Whitehall where we find a lot of important monuments and palaces in succession, among which the famous premier residence at the 10 of Downing Street and the Royal Horseguards in front of them head quarters. So we arrive at Trafalgar Square, the huge square London nerve centre, which host the National Gallery and its rich collection of 2.300 paintings from the middle of XII to last century. At this point the tour twists and turns in its rooms, unveils wonderful masterpieces as the “Virgin of the Rocks” of Leonardo and the Van Gogh “Sunflowers”. After this artistic stop we can enjoy the nice promenade in St. James Park where we capture Buckingham Palace in passing. We steal some photo shots to squirrels which don’t miss to get close and we take a break.
We get on an historical two level bus which crossing Fleet Street, the historical street of english newspaper, bring us until Tower of London, another unmissable place of the city. The stronghold built in 1078 from William I the Conqueror to reinforce the norman supremacy on the city just taken. In front of the Tower there is the Tower Bridge, the most famous lift bridge in the world, but before cross it we visit St. Katharine’s Dock, a very picturesque docks. The route moves along the Thames, giving us a special viewing on the skyscrapers skyline: all the city and in particular the Gherkin and the Shard, that we have really close.
