WALK IN WESTMINSTER AND NATIONAL GALLERY

Discover how much history is hidden under the short walk from Big Ben to Trafalgar Square and admire National Gallery masterpieces

The walk starts from Westminster tube station situated near Thames riverside beside the Big Ben. The tour is just 800 mt so it’s not hard for children.

Despite the shortness, the walk is plenty of thing to see. Palace of Westminster, just outside the tube, is one of the best neo-gothic architecture existed, in the beginning Royal residence and then seat of United Kingdom Parliament. Clock Tower well knows as “Big Ben”, stands out in a majestic way. If we turn back the shoulder for a second we find in front of us another icon of the capital...the London Eye, the European higher ferris wheel. We continue the tour visiting the really close Westminster Abbey, where since 1066 all the Kings are crowned.

We set out for the Whitehall where we find a lot of important monuments and palaces in succession, among which the famous premier residence at the 10 of Downing Street and the Royal Horseguards. At the end of the long way we arrive in the huge Trafalgar Square, nerve centre of the city with its famous Nelson Column in the middle, fountains and moreover the NATIONAL GALLERY which host a very rich collection of 2.300 paintings from the middle of XII to last century. National Gallery admission is free and depending of your preferences and time you want to use, we have several routes to admire and explain the masterpieces art works. Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, are just few names among the bigger artists ever had in the history of art who made National Gallery unmissable.

At the end of the guide there will be the possibility to get on the 50’ historical two levels bus from Trafalgar to Tower of London, passing side to St. Paul Cathedral and many other monuments that the guide won’t miss to explain.
